Chloe was thinking about Jace again. He was shy with blonde hair and dreamy eyes.
Chloe walked over to the window and reflected on her wild surroundings. She had always hated busy Los Angeles with its breakable, bulbous beaches. It was a place that encouraged her tendency to feel sad.
Then she saw something in the distance, or rather someone. It was a figure of a shy boy.
Chloe gulped. She glanced at her own reflection. She was a tall blonde with a fragile mind and heart. Her friends saw her as a pretty, powerful friend. Once, she had even saved a little girl from drowning.
But not even a kind-hearted person who had once saved a little girl was prepared for what Jace had in-store today.
The rain hammered like cannons, making Chloe worried. Chloe grabbed her favorite blanket from when she was a child.
As Chloe stepped outside and Jace came closer, he could see the surprised look in her eye.
Jace gazed with affection as he said, in hushed tones, "I love you."
He continued to look at her then he turned around and looked out the window at the dark clouds, and said "Chloe, I love you,"
They looked at each other with puzzled feelings, like two lost puppies, with Indie music playing in the background.
Chloe studied him. Eventually, she took a deep breath. "I'm sorry," began Chloe in apologetic tones, "but I don't feel the same way, and I never will. I just don't love you Jace."
Jace looked at her starting to tear up, as Chloe's words ran through his head over and over again.
Chloe felt like she could actually hear Jace’s heart shatter into 1,000 pieces. Then Jace hurried away into the distance. As he walked out the door.
Nothing could make Chloe feel worse than she felt that tonight.
